Conditions of Entry and Other Rules.
These rules have been developed over time after discussion with participating players.
Entry and Conduct |
Entry is via the BridgeZone website. Captains must create a login and should familiarize themselves
with the features of the website. You are expected to complete all your matches, although teams may withdraw
from the consolation without penalty. If your team cannot complete the event, please let us know as soon
as possible.
Players are expected to display a high level of courtesy and sportsmanship. BridgeZone reserves the right to
refuse entry or disqualify any player or team at any time without giving notice or a reason. That said, we
realize our reputation depends on being fair to everyone. The tournament directors are Hank Youngerman (redtop)
and Cindy Belonogoff (cindybel). The administrator of the tournament and website is Cindy Belonogoff.
Bridge Zone has no affiliation with BridgeBaseOnline or any national bridge organization.
Players who are barred from playing on BBO are not permitted to enter, and if barred during the duration of an event,
must be replaced.

Scheduling and forfeits |
Scheduling should be done if possible through the scheduling form. Captains may communicate directly
but this will make it difficult for the tournament staff to monitor scheduling.
In the unfortunate event that a forfeit must be awarded, it will be based only on communication
through the scheduling form. The criteria will be promptness and clarity of communication and
flexibility in offering playing times.
We strongly encourage teams to complete their matches by the posted deadline, but if a match has a
confirmed date by the deadline but has not yet been played, we will usually grant a short extension.
The tournament director may set the date, time, and conditions of any match.
This would only usually be exercised for the finals.
|
Venue |
Matches will be played on BridgeBaseOnline.
|
Reporting |
The winning captain should report the match result promptly via the Pending Matches table on
MyPage,
in no case more than 24 hours after completion.
Do not report a forfeit; if a forfeit is indicated contact the director. If you mis-report, contact
us and we will fix it. The protest period will expire 24 hours after we receive a result.
|
Ratings |
All played matches will enter into the Bridge Zone rating system.
Details on the rating system are on the
Points And Ratings page.
Forfeited matches will not be considered in the rating system.
|
Language. |
English is the official language for both scheduling and at-the-table explanations.
|
Venue. |
Matches will be played on BridgeBaseOnline.
|
Screenmate Chat |
Players are encouraged (but not required) to have an audio or video chat session with their screenmate via FaceTime,
Zoom, Skype, or any other technological marvel they fancy.
|
Disputes |
Captains are strongly encouraged to resolve disputes between themselves, including any that might
normally be resolved by a director. If the captains are unable to, the tournament staff will do our best to help.
Captains should agree on a single submission that contains all the relevant facts, expressed in a form that
does not disclose the identity of the players.
|
General |
Play will be governed by the Laws of Duplicate Bridge, subject to the following modification:
When a claim or concession is made, if the opposing side objects, play will
continue with all four hands exposed to the objecting side.
The tournament directors are Hank Youngerman (redtop) and Cindy Belonogoff (cindybel).
The administrator of the tournament and website is Cindy Belonogoff.
Bridge Zone has no affiliation with BridgeBaseOnline or any national bridge organization.
Players who are barred from playing on BBO are not permitted to enter, and if barred during the
duration of an event, must be replaced.
We will do our best to adhere to posted rules, but we reserve the right to modify or deviate from them
if such rules are determined to compromise the competitive integrity of the event, or if such modification
would be manifestly fairer to a large number of players. The tournament directors will not participate
in any decision involving their own team.
